Secure your website

What is HTTPS and SSL?

HTTP stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol don’t worry you don’t need to remember that. Basically is the format used to send Websites from the server they live on to your computer. HTTPS is the same thing but the stands for Secure so the data sent from the web server to your customer and from your customer to the server is secure. Its as simple as that.

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer and its what we use to make your website secure. A secure website will have an SSL Certificate. This is issued by a Security company and checked by your computer when visiting a website. This is how you know your on the real website and anything you do on the website is secure and can not be seen by hackers.

Its important to only type your information into secure websites. Any website asking for your email address, password or credit card information must be secure or you risk someone stealing your data.

How to tell if a Website is Secure.

You can tell if a website is secure by looking at the address bar. In most browsers like Google Chrome it will say Secure in green but other browsers like Apples Safari will show a padlock.

The Brink Media website is Secure so if you look at the address bar now you can see what a secure website looks like on your computer.
